I often get lots of questions about my dogs, they are pictured above (Brody on the left and Bonnie on the right). I get comments about how expensive they must have been or people wanting dogs just like this, but are under the impression they have to be thousands of dollars. They are very small Pomeranians, Brody is about 10 pounds and Bonnie is about 4.5 pounds. I bought them online at www.hoobly.com. I searched and searched for weeks for the both of them, it was more challenging than I originally thought to find a dog I loved in my price range.
When I bought Brody he was from a small breeder in Gaylord, Michigan (I no longer have her information or I would post it) which is about 3 hours away from my home. He was listed for about $650 but after some discussion on travel expenses and home preparation we end up at $250. Which is not very common, but they were more interested in finding him a good home then the price. Brody is 6 years old now. He is very cuddly and has a charming personality. He often does funny things such as play with his food, he will take one piece out at a time then jump and spin in circles before eating it. I added a video of this below. He’s a very entertaining little guy!
As for Bonnie we found her on the same website from a couple that had bought her from a breeder (information also unknown). They decided with their work schedules that they were not home enough to have a puppy, so they were trying to find her another home as soon as possible. We purchased her for $400, about an hour and a half away from our home. This is also uncommon, but since they had already purchased her for a much higher price from the breeder and were no longer able to take care of her they sold her for a much lower price. Bonnie is now 2 years old. She is also very cuddly, and extremely loveable. She constantly wants to be on my lap when we are at home and she often will sleep on my pillow right next to my head at night. One of her favorite things to do is go on walks, she is unexpectedly adventurous for her size! Although when we go on long trails or explore new places we have to keep an eye on her to make sure she is staying hydrated and her sugar level is staying normal. This is because she is hypoglycemic which is very common in dogs her size. Beyond that both of them are very healthy!
Some Pomeranians are thousands of dollars and if you find the one you want for an expensive price I wouldn’t discourage you from buying them. However, if you are looking for something on the lower end I wanted to point out that it’s not impossible.
