Part Three – Result
My mother had a mind of detail, my father had a mind of strength and they both were filled with life. I remember them reading to me constantly and there were specific books they wanted me to know word for word. My mother would often fold in the top corners of the pages to show there was something there she liked. Whether it be wording or a lessoned learned from the characters. She would often leave notes in the back of the books, just random things.
I noticed in the baby book, she would reference these random notes. Which got me thinking, maybe they weren’t so random. I walked to the attic with curiosity and grabbed a box full of the books she wrote on. I slowly take each one out and try to figure out if there was a meaning with the baby book.
It was turning into a long night but I was determined to figure it out. I noticed there were a section of numbers written at the end of each important note, instead of numbering them in the beginning. I realize they add up to banking account and routing numbers, through the clues and hints. My parents never left a will and as far as we knew there was no bank accounts. They only seemed to keep cash, no credit cards or anything. So when they passed I received a small amount of cash and their belongings, being their only child.
Also at the beginning of the book there was a laminated piece of paper sticking out. I pulled the paper out to find it was of great importance. To flash back a little, my father work in a factory and my mom as far as I knew, was a stay at home mom who loved to write but was never a famous author of kinds. I realized she noted names on the back inside covers of the books and each name matched up with the following book that came out and so on.
After thoroughly investigating and collecting my thoughts for the night, I realize that long ago even though my parent’s death was a “never seen it coming” kind of tragedy. It was clear now that they wanted to make sure I was prepared for any opportunity and expense that came my way. This paper showed me the details of my mothers books and how she published them through aliases. She did this because of how closely they related to her life and the people around her. She and my dad wanted me to learn these lessons and know these things about certain people without actually having to go through the experiences. You see, my father made enough money at the factory to take care of all of our expenses as a family and mother’s books were bestsellers and did extremely well. They put all of her book money into savings accounts and they have been accruing interest for all these years. It seems to me they lost this paper before they were able to put the cash they saved in the bank as well, that’s why my mother was so worried. Although, she shouldn’t have been because it all worked out perfectly. So as I get back to my typical day I feel more complete, I was busy waiting for someone to come along and bring the meaning that was missing back into my life when it was right at home all along.
